- 1 onion, sliced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup sour cream
- 12 ounces egg noodles
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Slow Cooker
Place the sliced onions and mushrooms in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Add the beef stew meat on top.
Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Step 2: Add the Broth
Pour the beef broth around the meat and stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
The broth will gradually become a flavorful sauce as the beef cooks.
Step 3: Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for approximately 8 hours.
Throughout the day, the beef slowly becomes fork-tender while the mushrooms release their savory flavor into the broth.
Avoid opening the lid frequently to maintain consistent cooking.
Step 4: Thicken the Sauce
Mix the cornstarch and water together until smooth.
Stir the mixture into the slow cooker during the final 20 minutes of cooking.
The sauce will become thicker and silkier.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated.
Cook the egg noodles separately according to package directions.
Serve the beef and sauce over the warm noodles.
Garnish with chopped parsley and freshly cracked black pepper before serving.
