Ingredients
- 2 pounds flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Green onions for garnish
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
Place the beef in a large bowl and toss with cornstarch until every piece is lightly coated.
The cornstarch helps thicken the sauce and creates incredibly tender beef.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
Whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
The sauce should become smooth and slightly glossy.
Step 3: Slow Cook
Place the coated beef into the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it.
Stir gently to distribute the sauce evenly.
Cover and cook on LOW for approximately 5 hours.
The beef slowly becomes tender while the sauce thickens into a rich glaze.
Step 4: Finish and Serve
Stir the beef one final time.
Serve over steamed rice and garnish generously with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
This dish also pairs wonderfully with broccoli or stir-fried vegetables.
